10 day Arenal Volcano, Sarapiqui Rainforest, Playa Negra Beach with eco-Plus lodging

My family LOVED our trip to Costa Rica with Global Family Adventures. It was our first international adventure as a family, and GFA made everything comfortable, and an exciting learning experience.

We stayed at Silencio del Campo in Arenal, Selva Verde in Sarapiqui, and Playa Negra Guesthouse in Cahuita. Each unique accommodation was spacious, clean, and comfortable (with AC). Further, and most importantly to us, each place had beautiful grounds full of nature. We loved walking around looking for animals and playing in the pools surrounded by wildlife.

Our trip was also made comfortable by our driver and guide, Luis. We felt very safe with Luis behind the wheel, even in pouring rain conditions, and his van is spacious and comfortable. (My girls actually enjoyed the road trip part of this journey because his car was so comfortable.) Luis also helped us navigate towns, took us to excellent sodas, and taught us about the country’s culture. Luis was able to coordinate our activities and paced them out to fit our family perfectly. We loved ziplining in Arenal, rafting on the Sarapiqui with Green Rivers, and a chocolate tour at Tirimbina. All of the guides were excellent and knowledgeable. Luis also took us on several hikes, pointing out wildlife and teaching us about the ecosystems of Costa Rica. He even kept the interest of my teenagers.

In Cahuita, we were left to organize our own activities and find our own sodas, but after traveling with Luis and taking his suggestions, we were ready. We loved Cahuita National Park and swimming in the Caribbean sea. We also ventured out by public bus to Puerto Viejo where we rented bikes and visited the Jaguar Rescue Center. This was a great adventure and we learned a lot about efforts to protect Costa Rican Wildlife (and saw adorable animals).

Overall, this trip was an amazing experience and exactly the adventure we were looking for. Thank you GFA for making it happen.
