This trip to Costa Rica was such a special gift and a wonderful way to celebrate our 30 year wedding anniversary. Traveling to Costa Rica during Covid
We left from Midway Airport. The lines were short and spaced out, everyone was wearing masks, and very few shops/restaurants were open. We flew out with Delta, so the middle seats were open and entering/exiting the plane was regulated. On one of the flights there were a few people that had to sit next to each other and they were offered vouchers for other flights.
When we got to the Liberia Airport, lines were spaced out and everyone was constantly reminded on Covid protocols. Even with those in place, it was very fast

We really, really liked Trogon lodge. SOOOOOOOO beautiful if a bit chilly (which we knew but still was odd). Great service, extra beautiful grounds and good food. And of course birds!!! Roads were crazy! What an experience even after all of the other driving we did. I was certainly (Literally) on the edge of my seat getting there :-)!!
We loved La Cusinga…. but we already knew that. 5 nights there was perfect. I can’t imagine ever going to CR without visiting there for at least a couple of days. The people/staff

We had a fabulous time! Travel to and from home was smooth. Dauren is the best!!! When we ate dinner the last night before our flight back home, we discussed our top three experiences – Dauren was in there with Zip Line and Horseback Riding. He made the trip!!! He always had great suggestions and helped us decide on activities and places to eat. Your family is going to love hime next Christmas when you go! He knows his craft and he knows all about the nature and history of Costa Rica.

We had a fabulous time and wanted to thank you for all of your help! I also can’t stress enough how wonderful Gil was. He immediately connected with our kids and made our experience a great success. I don’t know if other guides do this, but he also took photos during activities and sent them to us. That was very appreciated since we didn’t bring our phones with us to several excursions. I loved that he was available on What’s App. I hope others do the same.

We had such a great, and exhausting, trip that we spent the weekend recovering and sleeping 🙂
Highlights:
Senda Monteverde: staff was incredible, accommodations were great, food was really reasonable, wildlife on the premises (coati, armadillo, aguti) Arenal Springs Resort: we loved the pools and the accommodations, great that they had a playground too! Hanging bridges in Monteverde Dinner at Villas Kalimba by Roberto and his sweet puppies (we were the only diners, so it was great given our squirrelly kids!)
FYI: The car seats in Dauren‘s van were really basic and didn’t quite
