10 day Rincon de la Vieja Volcano & Samara Beach custom itinerary
We had a fantastic trip! So glad we choose to go to Costa Rica
It was such a stress free trip since Jenny did all the planning and Luis made it so easy. He is great. We felt like we made a new friend. We kept our trip relatively simple – Rincon de la Vieja for 3 nights and 4 nights at samara. We spent a night on each end at a hotel in Liberia and we enjoyed it also. We spent one evening walking around Liberia, nice park and church.
Hacienda Guachipelin was beautiful, the adventure center, restaurant and grounds were really great. The adventure center was very reasonably priced! We did basically everything – ziplined, whitewater tubed, horseback riding, all the waterfalls, National park and hotsprings. My girls were too small to go whitewater tubing but did everything else. It was nice to have time and not be rushed. My husband did the mountain bike riding with a guide. We were sad to say good bye to Luis at the end of this part of trip. We enjoyed all our meals with him. It was great to get to know a Costa Rican and have all our questions answered. My 6 year old said meeting Luis was her favorite part of the trip.
Samara was a great choice for our family. We loved the safe ocean as we all enjoy being the water and didn’t worry too much about the 6 year old since there weren’t rip currents. We all did surf lessons our first full day and used the surfboards and boogie boards the rest of the trip so we felt like it was a really good value. We did C&C surf because of the proximity.
There were many restaurant choices.
Of course, Villas Kalimbas was great. We enjoyed meeting other people staying there. I was happy to be across the street from the beach – away from sand and bugs – at the end of the day. We always rinsed off in the pool. We rented beach chair/umbrella one day during mid day, but mostly we spent morning and late afternoon at the beach. Since we were surfing we were there at high tide in am and pm.
